Summer School

middle school enrichment camps

Presentation offers a summer program for girls and boys entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in the Fall of 2008. Students enrolled in the Middle School Enrichment Program will experience fun and creative courses, explore new interests, and make friends.

Ceramics: June 16-20,- 9:00-12:00 - $150:
This camp will teach students the basic techniques and understanding of clay as an art medium. Instruction will be given in pinch, coil, slab, and other hand-building techniques. Students will have the opportunity to work on the potter's wheel. Students will also become knowledgeable in glazing and firing techniques of stoneware.
 
Dance: June 16-20, 12:30-3:30 - $150:
This camp teaches students the fundamentals of dance. From proper technique, to the history of dance, students will receive week long training in the art of dance. The different styls of dance that will be introduced are: musical theater, jazz, and hip-hop. Studens will learn how they began, how they evolved, and were they are now. They will be introduced to major influences in watch style and learn choreography for each style. At the end of the week, students will participate in an in-house performance.
Drawing & Painting: June 23-June 27, 9:00-12:00 - $150
Students will have an opportunity through assigned lessons to think creatively and express themselves. Students will be exposed to a variety of drawing and painting techniques and materials. Materials will include charcoal, pencil, ink and brush, collage, tempera and acrylics. Not only will the students have an opportunity to work with new materials, the aim of this summer art class is for the kids to have fun while creating art.
Hip Hop: June 23-June 27, 12:30-3:00 - $150
This camp will teach students the history and technique of hip hop. Students will be introduced to the different styles of hip hop, as well as major influences in hip hop. Each day students will learn fun and challenging choreography that will be performed on the last day of class in an in-house performance.
Introduction to Film: July 7-July 18, 9:00-2:00 - $550
Through learning about industry terminology, equipment, and techniques students will be able to create their own films from concept to completion.  Students will complete three short projects by writing, storyboarding, filming and editing their work. For editing students will using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Web Page Design: June 23-June 27, 9-12 - $150
Students will learn how to create a web page using HTML and FrontPage. Digital cameras will be used and students will learn to edit images in PhotoShop. By the end of the week, they will have produced a multiple page website. Students will determine the theme of their website based on their own interests.


Registration:
Registration form and tuition payment must be received to reserve classes. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Upon receipt of your paid registration, a confirmation will be sent to you.

Deadline for the Middle School Enrichment Program is June 8th.
